USING SOLAR POWER TO PROVIDE  LIGHT AND WATER TO ONE OF THE HOTTEST AREAS IN THE COUNTRY

 

Geographical Location: Village Turla is in Balangir District. The nearest town is Patnagarh, 45kms away.

 

The issue: The remote village of Turla, Odissa, has no access to conventional electricity. There is no light or water in this primarily tribal village with a population of about 50.

 

The Project: To goal was to provide light and drinking water to the school and local population. In partnership with the local NGO Vishwaneedham, Sunlit Future installed solar lights and solar water pumps to provide drinking water to the tribal population of 50 people and children of two nearby villages.

 

Social Impact: Improved health due to hygienic water supply.
